Why does money seem to be the factor that determines survival and/or contentment?

i want us to live our dreams and follow our passions.
that would be what drives us and brings about that satisfaction we so sorely crave in this life.

my debt is almost paid. and i must say, the time now is neither long nor short but why am i so impatient? i crave freedom more than anything else.. authority without freedom means nought.
