Is there a racial bias in our country?
i've noticed recently the stark increase in chinese service staff in f&b establishments all over the country, from the heartlands to the city centre. While foreign 'talent' makes for a cheaper and better workforce, their inability to speak our lingua franca is such a hindrance and a frustration to customers.
An example i witnessed today involved an indian gentleman at Q Bread trying to get a cake for a relative. He asked, for the weight and flavour. The chinese staff serving him kept repeating "1/2 kg" in halting english that took a while to decipher. It seems that they could not understand him and obviously he was repeating his questio to get an answer.

I've personally encountered this situation many a time at some restaurants. I would place an order witht he waitress only to have her put me on hold while a collegue could take over just because she didnt understand english. Could employers be more discerning? Afterall, your enterprise relies on service. What if it was a caucasian instead? That would have made for an interesting sight.

I finally got the name of the style i've got my hair in. Its called a "Marlot". And its exciting to think about the many possibilities i could do with my hair once i ORD. 3 more months. 5 more days. I just cant wait.

    Peace Out.
